Cook – Community Food Services

About the role

Ruth & Naomi's Mission is seeking compassionate and skilled cooks to join its Food Services team. The role supports two kitchens that serve shelter guests, community partners, supportive housing residents, recovery programs, and older adult shelter services. If you enjoy cooking, teamwork, and making a meaningful community impact, this position is for you.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals following established menus.
• Accommodate dietary needs and adjust recipes based on available inventory.
• Store, label, and rotate food safely according to FoodSafe standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food‑preparation areas.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff, volunteers, and program participants to ensure a respectful dining experience.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in a commercial or high‑volume kitchen.
• FoodSafe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Strong cooking and meal‑preparation abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a compassionate approach toward vulnerable populations.
