Controller – Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the finance function at our manufacturing site in Kingston, Ontario. This senior, hands‑on position partners closely with site leadership, corporate finance and operations to drive financial performance and support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, delivering accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements, operational performance metrics and variance analyses.
• Partner with operations to evaluate margins, labour, material usage, overhead and overall plant performance.
• Oversee product costing, inventory valuation, standard costs and variance analysis.
• Drive annual budgeting, forecasting and long‑range financial planning.
• Develop financial models and business cases for capital investments and operational initiatives.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, accounts receivable, payable and inventory levels.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures and coordinate external audits and tax reporting.
• Support ERP, reporting and process‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead, coach and develop the accounting team while providing clear financial guidance to non‑finance leaders.

Required profile

• CPA designation or equivalent senior‑level accounting qualification.
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including prior roles as Controller, Plant Controller or senior finance leader.
• Strong experience in manufacturing, industrial products or distribution environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting, inventory valuation and manufacturing variances.
• Proven ability to lead budgeting, forecasting, month‑end reporting and financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and regulations.
