Controller – Financial Leadership & Reporting

About the role

Our client, a mission‑driven organization serving communities across Southwestern Ontario, is looking for a Controller to join its leadership team in Windsor. This role blends strong financial leadership with meaningful work, supporting a long‑standing organization focused on stewardship, service, and community impact.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting, month‑end and year‑end processes, budgeting, cash flow management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking activities.
• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial information and management reporting.
• Prepare financial, operational, and performance reports to support decision‑making.
• Lead annual audit preparation and coordination with external auditors.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial procedures, and risk‑management practices.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, reporting requirements, and organizational policies.
• Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes and provide financial analysis, modelling, and strategic recommendations.
• Assist with pricing, capital planning, and operational improvement projects.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, supporting performance management and professional growth.
• Collaborate with leaders across operations, human resources, IT, and other departments.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
• Support system enhancements and modernization initiatives.

Required profile

• Accounting professional with strong financial leadership capabilities.
• Experience working in a multi‑site or partially decentralized environment.
• Ability to partner with operational leaders and stakeholders across multiple locations.
• Comfortable handling day‑to‑day financial operations while contributing to strategic initiatives.
• Proven track record in leading accounting teams and driving process improvements.
