Controller (12‑month contract) – Transportation & Logistics

About the role

Step into a pivotal finance position with a leading transportation and logistics organization. The Controller will own the numbers that drive strategic decisions and operational performance on a 12‑month contract, with strong potential to become a permanent role. The position is based full‑time in Mississauga.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full month‑end close for assigned contracts, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports in line with corporate accounting policies and CPA standards.
• Develop, maintain and monitor budgets and forecasts, delivering regular updates and scenario analysis.
• Manage cash flow for business units, forecasting collections and payments and flagging liquidity risks.
• Implement and enhance financial controls and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Analyse transportation and trucking cost structures, track KPIs and recommend cost‑control initiatives.
• Lead and mentor a small finance team, providing guidance on accounting best practices and financial systems.
• Collaborate with operations and commercial teams to review contract performance, pricing and profitability.

Required profile

• CPA designation (or final stages of completion) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Controller, Contract Controller or Senior Financial Analyst in transportation, logistics, trucking or a similar asset‑intensive environment.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in financial reporting, general ledger management and month‑end close processes.
• Demonstrated ability in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and variance analysis.
• Solid track record in cash flow management and forecasting.
