Contact Engineer – Asset/System SME (1-year contract)

About the role

The Contact Engineer acts as the primary interface between Operations and Engineering for an oil & gas asset in Whitecourt, AB. This asset‑based, non‑discipline‑specific role provides real‑time engineering support, aligns cross‑functional teams, and drives resolution of asset issues throughout a 1‑year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide real‑time engineering support to field and control‑room operations.
• Prioritize and coordinate engineering activities across Process, Discipline Engineering, Projects, Technical Services, and Commercial teams.
• Track and drive resolution of asset issues to completion, ensuring alignment with long‑range asset plans.
• Partner with Process Engineering to identify optimization and debottlenecking opportunities.
• Manage Management of Change (MOC) processes for operational changes and equipment modifications under $200K.
• Support project lifecycle activities, including intake, AFE prioritization, and budget justification.
• Participate in HAZOP revalidations, Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Operational Readiness Assessments (ORAs), investigations, and root‑cause failure analyses.

Required profile

• Asset/System Subject Matter Expert with strong understanding of oil & gas asset performance.
• Experience providing real‑time operational engineering support.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and prioritize engineering work.
• Familiarity with long‑range asset planning, outages, and risk management.
