Communications Officer

About the role

The Communications Officer reports directly to the Superintendent and CEO, providing strategic communications support to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees. This role leads the division’s public engagement, media relations, marketing, and storytelling initiatives to build trust and transparency with all stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute division‑wide communications, marketing, and public‑engagement strategies that highlight the district’s vision and achievements.
• Provide strategic counsel to the Superintendent, Board, and senior leaders on emerging issues, reputation management, and crisis communications.
• Coordinate media releases, speeches, presentations, web content, and social‑media communications.
• Serve as the primary media contact, responding to inquiries from press, community groups, and the public.
• Identify and promote stories that showcase student and staff success across multiple platforms.
• Oversee the district’s websites, social‑media channels, branding standards, and digital communication tools.
• Support student recruitment, family engagement, and district growth through targeted marketing and outreach.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in strategic communications, public relations, or marketing within an educational or public‑sector environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to manage crisis communications and handle sensitive issues with discretion.
• Experience collaborating with senior leaders, boards, and external partners.
