Clinician Educator in Paediatric Rheumatology

About the role

The Department of Paediatrics at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, seeks a senior clinician educator for a contingent term appointment at the Associate Professor level. The position combines clinical practice, undergraduate medical education leadership, and health‑equity focused research in paediatric rheumatology.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching and mentorship to undergraduate medical students.
• Design, implement, and evaluate undergraduate medical curricula, admissions processes, and assessment tools.
• Lead initiatives that advance health equity, including scholarship, education, and community engagement.
• Maintain an active clinical practice in paediatric rheumatology within an academic setting.
• Secure and manage externally funded research projects (Tri‑Council or equivalent) and produce a sustained record of peer‑reviewed publications.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD) with certification or eligibility for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Paediatrics and Paediatric Rheumatology (or equivalent).
• Minimum 15 years of active academic practice in paediatric rheumatology.
• Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching (awards, recognition) and leadership in undergraduate medical education.
• Proven track record of externally funded research and a strong publication history.
• Leadership experience in health‑equity initiatives, including funding, publications, and presentations.
