Cashier – Customer Service & Checkout

About the role

Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store in Ottawa and be the front‑line face for customers seeking health, beauty and convenience products. You will ensure a smooth checkout experience while keeping the store’s standards of service and appearance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide friendly, efficient service to every customer and maintain a tidy checkout area.
• Accurately scan items, process cash, coupons, lottery tickets and PC Optimum loyalty cards.
• Ask each customer for their PC Optimum card and apply the appropriate discounts.
• Handle merchandise documentation, returns and maintain designated shelving (facing, signing, labeling).
• Follow loss‑prevention standards and control cash, lottery and stamp inventory.
• Adhere to uniform, health‑and‑safety, and store policy requirements.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support store operations.

Required profile

• Strong planning, judgement and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to balance teamwork with efficient order processing.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and capable of maintaining neat workspaces.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cash register operation and point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
• Basic computer skills for transaction entry and inventory control.
