Care Companion

About the role

Join the Coast family as a Care Companion in Halifax. You will work in partnered retirement homes and long‑term care facilities across Nova Scotia, providing comfort and support to residents in a welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide items of comfort, sit with residents, and engage in purposeful conversations.
• Supervise residents at all times and report any safety concerns.
• Escort residents around the facility in wheelchairs and assist with mobility.
• Intervene when needed to prevent physical harm to residents.
• Promote a positive and safe environment throughout the facility.
• Maintain and protect the privacy and dignity of each resident.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
• NVCI certification (required).
• Adaptability with the ability to act calmly and swiftly under pressure.
• Strong observation skills.
• Experience in geriatric care (asset).
• Training and certification in crisis prevention or similar (asset).
• CCA and LPN students are welcome to apply; ex‑CCA candidates will also be considered.
