About the role

McGill University is seeking a world‑leading researcher to hold the Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Manufacturing and Advanced Materials. The appointment is a tenure‑track position at the rank of Associate Professor (with promotion to Full Professor within two years) or Full Professor, focused on advancing transformative projects in Canada’s strategic priority area of manufacturing and advanced materials.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a high‑impact research program that addresses national and global challenges in manufacturing and advanced materials.
• Build and manage an interdisciplinary research team, including graduate students and post‑doctoral fellows.
• Collaborate with industry, government, and international partners to translate discoveries into commercial and societal benefits.
• Secure additional research funding and contribute to the university’s research excellence.
• Teach and mentor students at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Required profile

• Recent track record of outstanding research achievements in manufacturing, advanced materials, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to attract and lead high‑performing research teams.
• Strong interest in contributing to Canada’s economic and societal goals.
• Currently residing and working outside Canada at the time of application.
• Willingness to start the position within 12 months of acceptance.
