Senior Advisor, Research Development

About the role

The Senior Advisor, Research Development is a key member of the Research Development team within the Strategic Initiatives of the Vice‑President (Research and Innovation) at McGill University. The role supports high‑value research grant initiatives that align with the university’s strategic research objectives, working closely with faculty, external partners and internal research administration units.

Key responsibilities

• Identify interdisciplinary research synergies and match them with appropriate funding opportunities.
• Develop and lead complex, large‑scale grant proposals involving multiple public and private sector partners.
• Negotiate agreements and contracts with external collaborators.
• Design and deliver research support services, including training, resources, consultations and outreach.
• Provide accurate information on administrative processes and monitor proposal progress.
• Analyze results and data to inform future research development initiatives.

Required profile

• Significant experience in research development and grant administration.
• Strong knowledge of federal, provincial and international research funding programs.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑stakeholder projects and complex partnerships.
• Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with university research administration structures.
