Business Unit Controller

About the role

Our client, a technology organization, seeks an experienced Interim Business Unit Controller to lead accounting activities for a core business unit on a 6‑month contract. The role combines hands‑on accounting, IFRS expertise, and leadership to support finance and business stakeholders in a fast‑changing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations for the unit, including general ledger, payables, receivables, invoicing and close processes.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close, performing balance‑sheet reviews, journal entries, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Apply IFRS guidance to technical accounting matters, especially revenue recognition across multiple product and service lines.
• Coordinate indirect‑tax reporting and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
• Partner with FP&A and operational teams to improve visibility into revenue, billing and performance.
• Lead, coach and support a team of direct and indirect reports.
• Drive process enhancements, strengthen internal controls and support finance improvement initiatives.
• Assist with audit support and ad‑hoc projects as needed.

Required profile

• CPA designation preferred or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Strong IFRS expertise.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Prior leadership of core accounting functions (close, reporting, AP, AR, tax).
• Background in technology, fintech, SaaS or recurring‑revenue environments.
