Assistant Mill Manager

About the role

The Assistant Mill Manager supports the operational leadership of the Edmundston and Madawaska mills by ensuring strict environmental compliance, product stewardship, and the maintenance of the ISO management system. This onsite position blends regulatory knowledge with practical implementation to drive sustainable practices across the facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure company‑wide compliance with federal and provincial environmental regulations and identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor environmental strategies, policies, and sustainability programs.
• Resolve environmental issues, establish preventive procedures, and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities.
• Oversee and update the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) system, screening new chemicals and process changes for compliance.
• Provide product stewardship information to customers and ensure products meet American, Canadian, and EU regulations.
• Support Green Transformation Projects with guidance and data.
• Manage the ISO Management System, including internal audits, corrective actions, document updates, and annual external audits.
• Communicate management expectations, objectives, and results across the department.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and ISO standards.
• Experience in a manufacturing or mill environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external regulators.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
