Nuclear Buyer

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Power Generation team is expanding and seeks a committed, collaborative Nuclear Buyer. Based in Bowmanville or Pickering, the role reports to the Procurement Director and manages the full procurement life‑cycle for nuclear‑class systems, from RFQ through to purchase‑order closeout.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate purchase contracts for cost, delivery, and quality terms.
• Ensure compliance with CSA N286, N285 or N299 standards.
• Interpret BOMs and technical specifications to define procurement requirements.
• Develop procurement plans, source qualified suppliers, and issue purchase orders.
• Track purchases from BOM acceptance to receipt inspection and manage material changes with engineering.
• Maintain quality documentation, review supplier discounts, and process returns or claims.
• Collaborate with Quality, Accounting, Project Management and Site Management.
• Generate, analyze and upload procurement reports.

Required profile

• 10+ years of procurement experience in the nuclear power plant or EPC environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field; SCMP designation is an asset.
• Experience with medium to high‑risk projects ($1‑10M) and supplier quality assurance.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and teamwork competencies.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of CSA N286, CSA N285 and CSA N299 standards.
• Computer literacy with MS Word, Outlook, Excel and AS7/Passport.
• Experience with JD Edwards (asset).
