Arena Operator – Ice Facility & Refrigeration Specialist

About the role

Planet Ice is seeking a mechanically‑inclined Arena Operator to keep our ice facilities in Delta and Coquitlam running at peak performance. You will be responsible for the refrigeration plant, overall building maintenance, and operating the Zamboni on varying shifts, including graveyard hours.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot the ice refrigeration system.
• Perform routine building maintenance and repairs.
• Operate the Zamboni safely and efficiently.
• Work rotating shifts with a differential for night work.
• Collaborate with the facility team to ensure optimal ice quality.

Required profile

• Current Ice Facility Operator (IFO) or Refrigeration Operator (RO) certification, or a 4th/5th class Power Engineer licence.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands‑on approach.
• Experience working in a hockey arena or similar facility preferred.
• Willingness to obtain IFO/RO certification if not already certified.

Required skills

• Ice Facility Operator (IFO) certification.
