Architect – Transportation & Sports Venue Design

About the role

Architecture49 is seeking a registered architect to lead the design of world‑class transportation facilities and sports & entertainment venues across the Greater Toronto Area. The role combines creative design leadership with project management, client interaction and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of architects in producing design solutions and construction drawings.
• Conduct project meetings, coordinate with other building disciplines on multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Perform internal reviews and quality checks to ensure BIM compliance.
• Research and integrate materials, products and technologies into specifications and details.
• Manage consultants and maintain client communication.
• Oversee technical and administrative aspects to meet cost, quality and schedule targets.
• Handle project financials including planning, forecasting and staffing.
• Travel to remote First Nation communities and work sites as required.

Required profile

• Registered architect in Ontario (OAA) or eligibility for registration.
• 7+ years of experience in architectural design and project leadership.
• Familiarity with provincial and national building codes and standards.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.

Required skills

• BIM principles and workflows.
• Revit software.
• AutoCAD software.
• Microsoft 365 environment.
• Bluebeam.
• Visualization software (e.g., 3ds Max, Rhino).
• Adobe Creative Suite.
