Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT)

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join HIDI Group’s Toronto office. HIDI is an employee‑owned, multi‑disciplinary consultancy delivering world‑class building services across mechanical, electrical, fire protection, lighting, AV, security, commissioning and energy. The role offers exposure to a variety of projects and professional development in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in designing electrical systems, including lighting, fire alarm, power distribution and related schematics.
• Prepare and review drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with company and code standards.
• Attend client and coordination meetings, produce design briefs, and develop riser diagrams and specifications.
• Perform lighting calculations, site audits, and generate engineering reports and equipment schedules.
• Coordinate with mechanical, architectural and structural disciplines and liaise with utilities and authorities.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Electrical or related).
• 2–5 years of experience in an engineering consulting environment.
• Familiarity with OBC, OESC, ASHRAE, IES and other relevant codes and standards.
• Strong time‑management, organizational and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with Revit (considered an asset).
• Competence with Microsoft Office and other engineering software.
