Application Software Developer – Android Navigation

About the role

You will design, build, integrate, and maintain high‑quality Android‑based software that powers seamless navigation experiences across multiple in‑vehicle displays. Join Ford’s Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team and help shape the future of electric transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Android services and applications for embedded and mobile third‑party navigation.
• Collaborate with platform, integration, system, and product teams to deliver robust navigation solutions.
• Implement software using Java, Kotlin, and C++ with multithreading and coroutine patterns.
• Integrate Android software with embedded automotive or Linux‑based platforms and ensure reliable performance in constrained environments.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across application, service, and embedded system layers.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and promote sound object‑oriented principles.
• Manage source control and collaboration workflows using GitHub.
• Contribute to planning, estimation, and execution within an Agile development environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of embedded software development experience.
• 3+ years of Android development experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Proven experience with multi‑threaded embedded systems and Real‑Time OS concepts.
