Technical Lead — Orchestration Control

About the role

The Technical Lead – Orchestration Control is the principal authority for the real‑time control stack that drives Q‑Block’s quantum hardware platforms. This senior leadership position owns the architecture, roadmap, and delivery of a deterministic, scalable control plane that unifies firmware, infrastructure, and systems engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the technical architecture of the orchestration control stack across firmware, middleware, networking, and application layers.
• Establish system‑level performance specifications such as latency budgets, timing precision, throughput targets, and fault‑tolerance requirements.
• Design the command, sequencing, and scheduling framework to coordinate arrays of control nodes with nanosecond precision.
• Lead cross‑team technical planning, resolve interface conflicts, and make documented architectural trade‑offs.
• Define and maintain integration test strategy, own system‑level acceptance criteria, and drive build‑versus‑buy decisions.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high‑performing engineering team, conducting architecture reviews and technical retrospectives.
• Manage technical risk, lead root‑cause analysis of system failures, and ensure corrective actions are substantive.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Physics or related field; Master’s/Ph.D. is an asset.
• 10+ years of professional experience in embedded systems, real‑time control, or distributed systems engineering, with at least 4 years in a technical leadership role.
• Proven track record shipping production hardware‑software systems, not just research prototypes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to technical and non‑technical audiences.
