About the role

Q-Block Computing Research is seeking a Senior Quantum Scientist to lead significant experimental research programs at the frontier of AMO physics, quantum information, and quantum metrology. The role combines world‑class experimental expertise with leadership to define research direction, mentor junior colleagues, and translate scientific ambition into executed programs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of complex experimental research programs, from concept through validation and milestone delivery, ensuring technical quality and rigor.
• Define technical approaches, make high‑stakes experimental decisions, and de‑risk programs with honest assessment of feasibility.
• Mentor and develop junior scientists and research staff, raising scientific standards through direct engagement and technical review.
• Contribute to new research directions and program strategy, identifying frontier opportunities and required capabilities.
• Advance quantum metrology research and technology development, including precision measurement, optical frequency standards, coherence characterization, and quantum‑enabled sensing.
• Produce scientific publications, conference presentations, research proposals, and technical communications; represent the program in the scientific community.
• Collaborate with engineering and platform teams where scientific work intersects with capability development.

Required profile

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field.
• 4+ years of post‑PhD research experience with a substantive track record in experimental quantum physics, AMO systems, quantum optics, or precision metrology.
• Demonstrated leadership of research projects or work packages, including planning, execution, and delivery against scientific objectives.
• Strong publication record or equivalent evidence of original scientific contribution.
• Commitment to scientific honesty, experimental discipline, and rigorous truth‑seeking.
