About the role
The City of Edmonton is seeking a dedicated Animal Control Officer to enforce municipal animal bylaws, protect public safety, and ensure the humane treatment of animals within the community.
Key responsibilities
- Advise licencees on animal control laws and regulations.
- Enforce bylaws by issuing warnings and citations to owners and property occupants.
- Investigate public complaints and respond to concerns about stray domestic animals, livestock and wildlife.
- Capture, impound and manage lost, homeless or dangerous animals in accordance with municipal bylaws.
Required profile
- Secondary school graduation certificate.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an animal control or by‑law enforcement officer.
- Completion of by‑law enforcement training courses.
- Proficiency in English (or French) as required.
