AI Engineering Director

About the role

Scovai is seeking an AI Engineering Director to lead its AI/ML strategy and delivery in Toronto. The role combines cutting‑edge generative AI research with real‑world product implementation, shaping the technical vision of a platform that powers the entire employee lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the end‑to‑end AI/ML roadmap, from architecture to production.
• Design and scale AI infrastructure, LLM‑powered features and MLOps pipelines supporting the platform.
• Build, mentor and expand high‑performing engineering teams, collaborating with product, data and business stakeholders.
• Drive responsible AI practices, including privacy‑preserving ML, bias mitigation and regulatory compliance.
• Optimize LLM performance and cost through quantization, ONNX/Triton inference, vector databases and cloud cost management.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading AI/ML engineering teams in high‑growth or startup environments.
• Hands‑on background implementing privacy‑preserving techniques such as differential privacy, federated learning or secure multi‑party computation.
• Deep understanding of hiring workflows, ATS/HRIS integrations and related data models.
• Track record delivering production‑grade LLM solutions and MLOps pipelines.
• Experience with AI governance, compliance (GDPR, PIPEDA, EEOC) and anti‑bias auditing.
