Advanced Care Paramedic

About the role

The Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) provides emergency medical assessment, treatment and transport for ill or injured patients. You will operate ambulances or other EMS vehicles, administer medications, advanced life‑support airway adjuncts and electrical therapy, and may lead the ALS crew on scene or during transport.

Key responsibilities

• Assess emergency scenes and patient conditions.
• Transport patients between locations and facilities.
• Operate ambulances and other EMS vehicles safely.
• Administer medications, ALS airway adjuncts and electrical therapy.
• Lead the ALS crew in delivering clinical care.
• Ensure EMS vehicles are properly stocked and equipped.
• Maintain physical readiness for lifting, carrying and working in demanding environments.

Required profile

• Non‑restricted registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics as an Advanced Care Paramedic.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) CPR certification.
• Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator License (or equivalent) with a clean driver abstract (≤6 demerits) within the past six months.
• Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test within the last six months.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 105 lb, perform frequent kneeling, trunk flexion, standing, sitting, bending, twisting and side‑carrying up to 20 lb per hand.

What we offer

• Competitive hourly wage ranging from $40.29 to $53.06 (CAD).
• 12‑hour shifts on a rotating schedule covering days, evenings, nights, weekends and on‑call duties.
• Vehicle provided for work duties.
• Temporary full‑time employment (approximately 8 weeks, 28 shifts per cycle).
