Accounts Payable Clerk

About the role

The County of Brant is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to manage its invoicing and payment processes. This full‑time position supports all departments by ensuring timely and accurate payments while maintaining compliance with municipal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Process and administer the accounts payable workflow, ensuring invoices are paid on time.
• Verify construction contract invoices for compliance with the Construction Act.
• Stop payments, void stale cheques, and manage vendor EFT changes.
• Reconcile vendor statements, set up pre‑authorized utility payments, and prepare related journal entries.
• Maintain signing authority records and respond to internal and external inquiries.
• Perform year‑end reconciliations of AP general‑ledger accounts.
• Assist with other finance duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Two‑year college diploma in Finance/Accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a municipal or public‑sector environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and ability to analyze GL details.
• Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, exercise discretion with confidential information, and travel within the county as needed.
