Accountant – 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

Our client is looking for a hands‑on Accountant to join their growing team in Markham on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support day‑to‑day accounting, payroll, bookkeeping and financial reporting in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑cycle accounting, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Prepare and file tax returns and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Administer Canadian payroll, guaranteeing timely employee payments.
• Prepare account reconciliations and support financial reporting.
• Assist the Financial Controller with finance operations and process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Experience performing full‑cycle accounting duties.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and journal entries.
• Experience with Canadian payroll administration.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
