Principal – Private Markets Real Estate

About the role

OPTrust is seeking a Principal to lead its Real Estate function within the Private Markets team. You will be part of a high‑performing group that manages a diversified global portfolio of private market investments for one of Canada’s largest pension funds.

Key responsibilities

• Originate, evaluate, execute and manage real‑estate investments across the portfolio.
• Collaborate closely with private‑equity, infrastructure and sustainable‑investing colleagues to integrate real‑estate opportunities.
• Contribute to investment strategy, risk‑return analysis and portfolio construction.
• Maintain relationships with external partners, advisors and service providers.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to junior team members.

Required profile

• Proven track record in real‑estate investment and asset management.
• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Experience with large‑scale pension or institutional investment portfolios is preferred.
