Pre-Employment Support Caseworker

About the role

The Pre-Employment Support Caseworker helps community members prepare for work, access training, and build long‑term career pathways. Acting as a career coach and community connector, you will guide clients through job‑readiness activities and personal development. The role collaborates with multiple local programs to ensure coordinated, holistic support.

Key responsibilities

• Meet individually and in small groups with clients to identify and overcome employment barriers.
• Assist clients with career planning, goal setting, and skill development for job acquisition and retention.
• Provide information on education, training, and employment opportunities and guide clients through related programs.
• Connect clients with community resources, local employers, and support services.
• Advocate for clients with employers and service providers as needed.
• Conduct outreach to raise awareness of available supports and build employer relationships.
• Coordinate services with the Pre‑Employment Supports Program, Income Assistance, SASET, Seabird College, and the Health Department.
• Promote sustainable employment and long‑term career success for community members.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Services, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
• Career Development Practitioner (CDP) certificate (required or willingness to obtain).
• 2–3 years of experience in employment counseling, career development, or a similar role, preferably within an Indigenous or community‑focused organization.
• Experience working with diverse populations and facilitating workshops or training sessions.
• Familiarity with local labour‑market trends and employment opportunities.
