Pharmacy Application Specialist – Digital Software Services

About the role

The Application Specialist, Pharmacy joins the Digital Software Services team at University Health Network. You will support the Epic Health Information System and other pharmacy applications, ensuring safe and efficient medication order processing across the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, test, and maintain Epic HIS and related pharmacy applications based on clinical and business requirements.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to gather workflow specifications and translate them into system configurations.
• Develop and document policies, procedures, and user guides for pharmacy software.
• Act as liaison between end‑users, Epic, and third‑party vendors to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Supervise the electronic drug distribution system to ensure accurate verification, dispensing, and administration of medications.
• Participate in system upgrades, testing cycles, and ongoing support activities.

Required profile

• Background in clinical pharmacy combined with strong computer science or technical aptitude.
• Experience working with health information systems, preferably Epic.
• Ability to analyze clinical workflows and translate them into system specifications.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
