Payroll & Benefits Specialist – Shared Services

About the role

Scotia Investments Limited is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join its Shared Services team in Bedford, NS. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Lead, you will ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing across multiple companies and provinces while supporting employee benefit programs.

Key responsibilities

• Process accurate payroll for the Scotia Investments family, adhering to legislation and data protection requirements.
• Administer employee programs, handling enrolments, changes, and terminations across payroll, pension, and benefits platforms.
• Respond to payroll, pension, and benefits inquiries and support team leaders in using systems and processes.
• Complete reconciliations, remittances, billings, and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with external vendors for smooth program administration.
• Partner with People & Culture on disability case management and attendance programs.
• Support P&C reporting, analytics, metrics, and funding program submissions.

Required profile

• PCP designation (required).
• Diploma or degree in business administration, commerce, accounting, human resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• CPHR or CEBS designation (asset).
• Experience with Payworks or a similar payroll/HRIS platform.
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Comfort working with collective agreements.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Clear, service‑oriented communication and ability to manage competing priorities.
