Hospitalist – Acute Inpatient Medicine

About the role

The Hospitalist will join Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, delivering acute inpatient medical care. Working an 8‑hour shift, you will act as the most responsible physician for complex medical cases, co‑manage surgical patients, and provide palliative care, typically caring for 12‑16 inpatients per shift.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for acute medical admissions.
• Serve as the most responsible physician for complex cases and coordinate care with surgical teams.
• Deliver palliative and end‑of‑life care as needed.
• Collaborate closely with hospital specialists and family physicians.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary rounds.

Required profile

• Medical degree with eligibility for licensure in British Columbia.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• Willingness to work full‑time, part‑time, or locum schedules.
• Strong commitment to teamwork, patient safety, and continuous learning.
