About the role
The Field Safety Advisor will support the Wasoqonatl Transmission Line project in Amherst, NS, ensuring that Valard’s safety culture is applied on‑site. Reporting to the Regional Safety Supervisor, you will be the primary safety resource for supervisors, foremen, workers, contractors and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain a visible safety presence in the field and enforce the Site Safety Management Plan.
- Coach and communicate safety expectations to field staff.
- Assist in incident investigations, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead daily tailboard reviews, safety observations, inspections and emergency drills.
- Facilitate weekly safety meetings, capture minutes and prepare safety reports.
- Support the development and review of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) with crews.
- Stay current with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick legislation and inform project leadership of changes.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary education in a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of construction site safety experience.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) certification.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
- Familiarity with provincial safety legislation.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
