Family Physician – House Medical Officer (HMO)

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Family Medicine Program is hiring Family Physicians to serve as House Medical Officers (HMOs) at Seven Oaks General Hospital. The HMO provides inpatient and outpatient coverage, medication reconciliation, and urgent response to deteriorating patients.

Key responsibilities

• Review newly transferred patients to inpatient units and perform medication reconciliation.
• Provide medical coverage for outpatient dialysis and low‑acuity community medicine units.
• Respond to unexpected medical urgencies (Code 25) and assess, investigate, and treat decompensating patients.
• Coordinate transport to tertiary care facilities when needed and support Code Blue situations with EMOs.
• Perform minor procedures such as casting, suturing, and epistaxis control during scheduled shifts (16:00‑24:00).

Required profile

• Eligibility for licensure and good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).
• CCFP or equivalent postgraduate training preferred.
• Active ACLS certification.
• Liability/malpractice coverage with CMPA or equivalent acceptable to the WRHA.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Ability to perform casting, suturing, and control epistaxis.
