Employer & Alumni Engagement Specialist

About the role

The Employer & Alumni Engagement Specialist supports UBC's Career Centre by building and managing relationships with employers and alumni to enhance career development opportunities for Vancouver‑based students. Working closely with the Alumni UBC team and campus partners, the specialist creates sustainable connections that benefit both students and the university community.

Key responsibilities

• Research, initiate, and develop employer and alumni partnerships that support student recruitment and career exploration.
• Coordinate and deliver services to employers engaging with UBC students and alumni, ensuring effective student‑employer experiences.
• Consult with community stakeholders on employment needs, international recruitment programs, and alumni hiring initiatives.
• Plan and execute career‑focused events such as fairs, expos, mentorship programs, and panel discussions.
• Leverage professional networks and industry knowledge to expand diverse employer and alumni networks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in employer relations, alumni engagement, or career services within a higher‑education or similar environment.
• Strong collaborative skills to work with internal teams, campus partners, and external organizations.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of employer engagement strategies and alumni relations best practices.
• Event planning and coordination experience.
• Ability to analyze labour market trends and translate insights into actionable programs.
