Emergency Medicine Physician – Urgent Care

About the role

The Oceanside Health Centre Urgent Care is seeking physicians to provide urgent and emergent medical care to the Parksville community. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment alongside emergency‑trained RNs, delivering acute care during 8‑hour shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients triaged by RN staff according to the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS).
• Order, perform, and interpret on‑site X‑ray and ultrasound imaging.
• Utilise point‑of‑care laboratory testing to guide clinical decisions.
• Prescribe and administer IV, oral, and other medications.
• Provide casting, splinting, and basic procedural care.
• Coordinate transfers for patients requiring higher‑level care.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to facility protocols.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a valid licence to practice in British Columbia.
• Comfortable delivering acute emergent care; emergency certification not mandatory.
• Willingness to work full‑time, part‑time, or casual schedules.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced urgent‑care setting.

What we offer

• Fee‑for‑service compensation with 11% physician overhead.
• Retention premium of 4.62% and a flat retention fee of $71,594.
• Relocation funding up to $15,000 and recruitment incentive up to $10,000.
• Eligibility for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement.
