Emergency Medicine Faculty Position (Assistant to Full Professor)

About the role

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a tertiary care hospital in Toronto, is seeking academic emergency physicians to join its Department of Medicine as Assistant, Associate or Full Professors in Emergency Medicine. The position offers a dynamic clinical environment with 64,000 annual ED visits and strong ties to the University of Toronto’s residency and fellowship programs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency care in a Level 1 Trauma Centre.
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents and fellows in the emergency medicine curriculum.
• Lead or contribute to research, quality‑improvement and innovation initiatives.
• Participate in simulation‑based education and point‑of‑care ultrasound training.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across specialty services.

Required profile

• Board‑certified in Emergency Medicine and eligible for a full‑time clinical appointment.
• Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, teaching and scholarly activity.
• Experience in a high‑volume, tertiary emergency department is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a collegial group of physicians.

Required skills

• Point‑of‑care ultrasound (POCUS) proficiency.
• Simulation‑based education techniques.
• Familiarity with virtual care platforms and health‑technology innovation.
