Co‑Op IT Support Student – Help Desk & Service Desk

About the role

The City of Mississauga is looking for enthusiastic co‑op students to join its Information Technology division. You will provide front‑line help‑desk support at the Tech Hub counter and the service‑desk call centre, assisting staff and visitors with a variety of technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver face‑to‑face help‑desk assistance at the Tech Hub counter.
• Answer telephone, voicemail and email support requests in the call centre.
• Log, triage and dispatch support tickets using the Help Desk database.
• Image, deploy and replace PCs as part of the PC life‑cycle process.
• Participate in IT asset management and inventory activities.
• Provide status updates on network and application availability via web postings and email notifications.
• Assist IT staff with follow‑up actions and general administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a post‑secondary Information Technology program.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Ability to travel to multiple City sites and lift equipment up to 40 lb.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and communication skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 7.
• Apple macOS (OS X).
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Microsoft Outlook and enterprise email systems.
• Knowledge of personal computers, network printers, scanners, digital cameras and iPhone mobile devices.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
• Basic networking, client/server and web‑based architecture concepts.
• PC maintenance/repair and imaging/deployment.
• Mobile Device Management (asset).
