Building Operator

About the role

The Building Operator works under the HVAC Supervisor (Zone East) to ensure reliable operation and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and other building engineering equipment at McGill University’s Ferrier Building.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems assigned to the unit.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building engineering equipment.
• Respond to service calls and be available on a call‑in list for after‑hours emergencies.
• Document work performed, log equipment status, and report any issues to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Valid Fourth Class Stationary Engineering certificate.
• Class B certification for Refrigeration Equipment Operations.
• Functional spoken and reading ability in both English and French; functional written ability in either language.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $35.48 CAD.
