Application Developer

About the role

Sobeys, one of Canada’s leading grocery retailers, is looking for an Application Developer to design, build, and support business‑critical applications across its store technology ecosystem. The role offers the chance to work on new development, enhancements, and production support that directly impact store operations nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop application features and integrations based on business and technical requirements.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code following team standards.
• Participate in code and design reviews and contribute to effort estimation and planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring timely fixes.
• Collaborate with business partners, analysts, and other developers to deliver solutions.
• Support deployment activities, post‑release validation, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on application development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, production‑support environment.

Required skills

• .NET / C#
• SQL Server (or other relational database)
• API design and integration
• Full development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, support)
• Azure cloud platform (preferred)
• CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• GitHub Copilot or similar AI development tools
