API Developer (Contract) – Toronto

About the role

We are looking for an experienced API Developer to join our client’s team on a contract basis. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable APIs for a suite of products, with a hybrid work arrangement that includes two days onsite in downtown Toronto.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new API versions using low‑code platforms as the primary development environment.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust API solutions.
• Apply best practices for API design, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
• Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation using Swagger and/or OpenAPI standards.
• Maintain and enhance existing APIs to meet evolving business needs.
• Participate in API testing and validation, including the creation of automated tests.
• Provide technical guidance on API usage and integration for internal and external partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in API development, preferably with low‑code/no‑code platforms.
• Hands‑on experience building APIs within AWS environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience using documentation tools such as Swagger or OpenAPI.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
