Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join Userful’s finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will manage day‑to‑day accounting functions and support the company’s financial health in a fast‑growing technology environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the general ledger, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including related reconciliations.
• Lead the month‑close process and supervise team members.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial statements and reporting packs.
• Perform bank, credit‑card and other account reconciliations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow tracking.
• Ensure compliance with ASPE standards, lending and tax requirements.
• Process expense claims and enforce company spend and travel policies.
• Prepare and submit GST/HST filings and other statutory filings.
• Support external audits by providing required documentation.
• Maintain accurate, organized financial records and own ad‑hoc projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance or Business Administration with an accounting focus.
• CPA Canada qualification.
• Minimum two years of post‑qualification experience, preferably in a technology environment.
• Experience handling a full set of books, including consolidation.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.

Required skills

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Google Sheets.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or a similar accounting platform.
