Manager of Hospitality Operations & Guest Experience

About the role

Carey Lodge is seeking a senior leader to oversee its hospitality, short‑term accommodations, conference services, and classroom rentals. The role will guide the Lodge through a renovation phase, a hybrid student‑housing model, and eventual full‑time short‑term operations, positioning it as a distinctive destination in the Vancouver market.

Key responsibilities

• Direct day‑to‑day operations of Carey Lodge, ensuring seamless guest experiences across rooms, conference spaces, and shared facilities.
• Develop and execute revenue‑growth strategies while balancing mixed‑use occupancy (graduate housing and short‑term guests).
• Modernize operational systems, implement process improvements, and oversee technology upgrades.
• Lead staff recruitment, training, and performance management to maintain high service standards.
• Collaborate with Carey’s three business units to align hospitality services with the institution’s mission and strategic goals.

Required profile

• Proven track record in hospitality or hotel management, preferably in a complex or transitional environment.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience driving revenue and controlling costs.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast‑changing settings and rebuild systems and culture.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
