Virtual Care Registered Nurse (Remote)

About the role

Fonemed is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join its virtual care team supporting the 811 HealthLine and Mental Health Crisis Line for Newfoundland and Labrador. This remote position allows you to provide telephone triage, mental health support, and clinical advice from the comfort of your home.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct telephone triage using Schmitt‑Thompson protocols and assess patient needs.
• Provide mental health, addictions, and crisis‑intervention guidance, including suicide risk assessment.
• Exercise clinical judgment to determine appropriate disposition and level of care.
• Document confidential medical records accurately and promptly.
• Maintain clear communication and provide concise instructions during each call.

Required profile

• Graduated from a recognized School of Nursing.
• Minimum two years recent clinical or triage experience (ER, ICU, mental health, etc.).
• Active RN licensure with the CRNNL or willingness to obtain it.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Dedicated private workspace with a closed door.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑based computer systems.
• Comfort using telephone systems and related software.
• High‑speed internet connection and personal headset.
