Truck Driver

About the role

ASCENT LOGISTICS is looking for a reliable truck driver to operate straight or articulated trucks, transport goods across routes, and maintain vehicle safety. The position involves loading and unloading cargo, performing inspections, and communicating with central dispatch.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload goods.
• Operate straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Inspect vehicle condition, including tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs.
• Conduct pre‑trip, en‑route and post‑trip inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo.

Required profile

• Attention to detail.
• Ability to handle heavy loads (up to 23 kg).
• Physically demanding work and repetitive tasks.
• Good judgement, organized and a team player.

Required skills

• Air Brakes Endorsement.
• Class 1 (or A) Driver’s License.
• Documentation knowledge: accident/incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection reports, maintenance and repair reports, trip reports.
