Student Service Representative – English Language Institute

About the role

The English Language Institute (ELI) at the University of British Columbia is seeking a Student Service Representative to join its student services team. This 14‑month fixed‑term position supports approximately 2,000 learners each year, providing accurate information and administrative support for ELI courses, visa requirements, fees, accommodation, and insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general information on ELI courses, visa requirements, fees, accommodation, and medical insurance to prospective and current learners.
• Promote ELI programs and courses online and on‑campus.
• Enter and maintain accurate student data including course enrollment, accommodation, fees and payments.
• Handle inquiries, ensuring complex issues are forwarded to appropriate staff.
• Supervise and train additional support staff during peak periods as needed.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with professional communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.
• Attention to detail for accurate data entry.
• Knowledge of visa and insurance requirements for international students is an asset.
