Senior PCB Design Engineer – Mixed‑Signal Space Systems

About the role

As a Senior PCB Design Engineer you will lead the hardware design team in creating mixed‑signal (digital & RF) printed circuit boards for satellite and orbital applications. You will translate system requirements into robust PCB architectures, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs meet space‑grade manufacturing and testing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead digital/analog PCB design for space environments and mentor junior team members.
• Develop complete design concepts including architecture, I/Os, component selection, power budgeting, FPGA and software integration.
• Collaborate with FPGA, software, and test engineers to finalize functional specifications.
• Perform schematic capture, layout review, and manage design risks and technology choices.
• Prepare bills of materials, long‑lead item lists, and ensure parts qualification for space missions.
• Conduct circuit simulations and analyses (SPICE, Hyperlynx, ADS, worst‑case, FMECA).
• Coordinate reviews with structural, thermal, packaging, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Oversee board assembly, manufacturing tests, and support environmental and functional validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience designing processor, digital, analog, high‑speed or mixed‑signal PCBs.
• Proven ability to coach and supervise junior engineers and interns.
• Experience handling multidisciplinary specifications (FPGA, software, mechanical).
• Familiarity with PCB manufacturing processes and mechanical packaging is a plus.

Required skills

• PCB design and layout tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence).
• Mixed‑signal, high‑speed, and RF design expertise.
• Simulation and analysis tools: SPICE, Hyperlynx, ADS, SiPro.
• Programming and scripting: Python, Matlab, MathCAD.
• Data handling and project tools: Excel, JIRA.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, FMECA, and worst‑case analysis.
