Rigging Engineer

About the role

Barnhart is seeking a Rigging Engineer to join its engineering team, delivering lift plans, crane studies, and custom rigging solutions for complex projects across Canada. The role blends problem‑solving, collaboration with operations, and hands‑on field execution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop engineered lift plans, rigging studies, and transportation plans for complex projects.
• Design below‑the‑hook lifting devices such as spreader bars, lift beams, and personnel work platforms.
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings to support project execution.
• Prepare crane lift studies, equipment selection analyses, and review engineering calculations.
• Provide engineering support throughout project planning and execution, including site visits and field assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with a Canadian engineering regulator.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering or design experience in a related role.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk Product Design Suite and 3D CAD modeling.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Mathcad and RISA (considered an asset).
