Red Seal Powerline Technician (Journeyperson, Subforeperson, Foreperson) – Ontario

About the role

The Canadian Union of Skilled Workers is recruiting Red Seal Powerline Technicians for Hydro One projects across Ontario’s Eastern and Central zones. Positions are available for Journeypersons, Subforepersons and Forepersons on a 4‑day, 40‑hour work week.

Key responsibilities

• Construction, maintenance and refurbishment of transmission lines and the bulk electrical system.
• Planning, scheduling and execution of day‑to‑day activities for TX Program and Capital Projects.
• Stringing transmission lines, tower assembly/erection, and insulator replacement.
• Wood pole replacement, shieldwire replacement, OPGW installation, conductor dead‑ending and looping.

Required profile

• Valid G licence and Red Seal certification as a Powerline Technician Journeyperson.
• Physical ability to climb towers and poles, perform rescue techniques and work in extreme weather.
• Strong communication, team‑oriented mindset and willingness to work outdoors.
• Valid DZ or AZ driver’s licence.
• Previous supervisory or transmission experience is an asset.

Required skills

• Transmission line construction, maintenance and refurbishment.
• Transmission tower assembly and erection.
• Insulator, wood pole, shieldwire and OPGW installation.
• Conductor dead‑ending and looping.
• Planning and scheduling of field activities.
• Rescue techniques and safe climbing of vertical heights (>15 m).
