About the role
The Advanced BioImaging Facility (ABIF) at McGill University seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to drive technical innovation, support users, and enhance imaging capabilities. You will work closely with facility scientists to develop protocols, evaluate new technologies, and ensure high‑quality imaging services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead quality‑control workflows for imaging systems, including performance monitoring, calibration, and benchmarking.
- Develop, optimize, and standardize experimental and imaging protocols to improve reproducibility.
- Evaluate emerging imaging technologies, software tools, and analysis pipelines, providing recommendations for upgrades.
- Provide user consultations, training, and troubleshooting for widefield, confocal, and advanced fluorescence microscopy.
- Manage routine facility operations, instrument scheduling, and maintenance, liaising with vendors as needed.
- Support safety and compliance procedures, including hazardous waste handling.
- Stay current with microscopy literature and contribute to ABIF courses, workshops, and community events.
Required profile
- PhD in Biophysics, Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with light microscopy, especially widefield and confocal laser scanning microscopy.
- Experience in quantitative imaging, quality control, benchmarking, and protocol development.
