Plant Accountant – Manufacturing Finance

About the role

The Plant Accountant will join a fast‑growing consumer packaged goods organization and support the finance team at a manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Plant Controller, you will work closely with operations to ensure accurate cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Senior Manager, Cost Accounting to manage plant finance and manufacturing accounting.
• Maintain and improve standard costing in the SAP ERP environment.
• Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly KPI dashboards and plant performance metrics.
• Review actual manufacturing costs versus budgets, identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Analyze material, labor, overhead, and production variances and provide actionable recommendations.
• Monitor inventory transactions, including scrap, rework, obsolescence, write‑offs, and adjustments.
• Support costing analysis for new product launches and collaborate with Marketing and Operations.
• Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with SOX and accounting standards.
• Oversee inventory accounting for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, packaging, and consignment inventory.
• Contribute to fixed‑asset accounting, capital expenditure tracking, and related financial analysis.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of progressive cost‑accounting experience in a manufacturing or CPG environment.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing operations.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
