Lawyer-Revisor (Legal & Linguistic Specialist)

About the role

The Lawyer‑Revisor is a dual‑qualified legal and linguistic expert who ensures the legal accuracy of French and English translations across securities, commercial contracts, and financial market documents. Working in a hybrid model from our Montreal office, you will collaborate with translators, proofreaders, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality, legally sound translations under tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Review and edit French and English translations from a legal perspective, providing translation opinions when required.
• Give feedback to translators and coordinate translation mandates from request to delivery.
• Liaise with clients, external lawyers, printers, freelancers, and service providers.
• Decide on legal terminology, process decisions, and budget allocations for each matter.
• Maintain client communication, handle billing, and manage complex client files.
• Ensure smooth execution of mandates, organize team workflows, and stay calm under pressure.
• Monitor new legislation, especially in securities law, to keep translations up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Member of a provincial Bar with at least 5 years of experience in business and commercial law.
• Strong understanding of financing, accounting, and securities sectors.
• Relevant experience in linguistic services and excellent command of French and English.
• Familiarity with AI platforms, CAT tools, and translation management systems (TMS) is an advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure, including outside regular office hours.
• Superior interpersonal and client‑management skills.
